Do you have a designated self-care day? You know, a day (or let's be honest, a quick moment) that you've promised just for yourself to help you decompress and feel like you again. If a self-care day sounds like wishful thinking, we totally get it - life can get crazy busy and taking a moment to slip out of the house for an hour to get a facial or even just a flipping coffee can seem impossible at times. But what if we told you that you could spend half an hour in the comfort of your own home and still achieve a glowing complexion (and zen mood).
If you've ever had the opportunity to indulge in a Miracle 10 Peel at one of our boutiques, then you've experienced a true moment of self-care bliss. Being able to provide a momentary escape to recharge is something we truly pride ourselves for. Now, it's no doubt that our highly-skilled skincare wizards have the magic touch. But what if you could recreate a mini version of the Miracle 10 Peel at home for those moments when time is not on your side. Don't worry, we've got your back.
Here are the steps to recreate the Miracle 10 Peel.
Step One - Set The Mood
Choosing to DIY your Miracle 10 Peel is totally achievable! Of course, there are certain aspects of the peel that cannot be recreated. For example, when you come in for a Peel, you're about to be pampered by a trained Medical Aesthetician. Our Aestheticians will usually perform dermaplaning, a form of exfoliation that shaves away dead skin cells and tiny hairs (we always recommend you leave that to the pros). They also have access to stronger acids which, depending on your skin type, can penetrate deeper into the skin.
That doesn't mean you can't still achieve a spa-like glow at home. Head over to your bathroom and dim the lights, light a candle, play some soothing music and maybe even pour a glass of wine (hey, bring the bottle!). It's time for some self-care.
Step Two - Cleanse
Before you can apply any goodies to your skin, you must first thoroughly cleanse the skin. Our Medical Aestheticians love using our Cleanser I to gently wash away any dirt from the day. Using a well-formulated cleanser is very important before starting your at-home facial. Look for a cleanser with a light lather that won't cause any unnecessary dryness or irritation. Remember, cleansing your face is the first step to prep the skin for any upcoming treatments.
Step Three - Exfoliation
We like to begin the exfoliation process by gently applying a layer of Enzyme to the face, buffing the skin in circular motions to physically remove the dead skin cells. Once that's done, we'll enhance that even further by apply 2-3 pumps of Solution I onto our hands and press the product into the layer of Enzyme. Solution I has 3% Glycolic acid which will brighten and even out the skin’s complexion. Keep this on for 2-3 minutes so that it can penetrate the skin deeper. Once that's complete, take a lukewarm, damp towel and gently remove everything off your face.
Step Four - Mask
It's nap time - uh, we mean, Mask time! For most of our patients who visit our boutique for our Miracle 10 Peel, mask time is their favourite time. When recreating our facial at home, apply an even layer of Mask onto your freshly exfoliated skin and leave on for about 10 to 15 minutes. While you wait for it's magic to sink in, catch-up on some Netflix, enjoy some light reading or take a well-deserved nap. Just don't forget to set a timer! Once time's up, you can gently wipe away the mask with a clean lukewarm towel.
Step Five - Glow
Now that your skin is uber clean and refreshed, pump-up the moisture with your favourite Miracle 10 eye cream and moisturizer. Our favourite post-peel moisturizer is our Light Serum, especially during the summer. It will help lock-in your new glow well overnight and straight 'till morning! If you happen to recreate the Miracle 10 Peel during the day time, always apply a generous layer of Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 before your moisturizer to protect your skin from the sun's rays.
